Alejandra Graf is a published cookbook author and food blogger. Born in Mexico City, Graf has lived in several vibrant cities worldwide, including Boulder, Boston, Monterrey, Montreux, and Austin. She currently resides in Houston, Texas, running her successful food blog and creating home-cooked, vegan recipes to share with her audience.
In 2013, Graf launched her food blog, Piloncillo & Vainilla, in Spanish to share easy-to-make and family-approved vegan recipes with the world. Due to her success with Spanish-speaking audiences, she expanded her creations to English-speaking audiences. In 2015, she began sharing her recipes in English on the blog Brown Sugar & Vanilla, later changing the name to her now well-known blog Ale Cooks. In 2019, she launched her first ebook, "Siénte bien, Comiendo bien," and followed it with “32 Smoothies”. Both cookbooks catered to Spanish-speaking Latinx home cooks based in the United States.
Graf began Piloncillo & Vainilla and AleCooks with the mission to showcase, through mouth-watering food photography and videos, that eating healthy and vegan can be both delicious and easy. As a bilingual and bicultural woman, Alejandra connects with mothers worldwide to help them introduce healthier foods and products to their families. She has motivated thousands of women to prepare tasty, quick, plant-based, nutritious meals. Her recipes, healthy lifestyle recommendations, and insights resonate with Americans, U.S. Latinos, and Hispanic women. Graf is one of the leading voices for brands that prioritize healthy, clean ingredients and whose primary focus is to enhance people's lives.
Graf’s recipes gained traction, earning praise and recognition from numerous media sources. TheLatinKitchen, PopSugar, HuffPost Latino Voices, Latinamom.com, OneGreenPlanet, PetaLatino, Peta, Piccolo Universe, PureWow and Babble.com have featured Graf’s recipes. One of her recipes was published in The Jacques Pépin Foundation 2022 catalog. HipLatina named Graf one of the Top Five Foodie Women to Watch in 2018, and Veganuary named her as one of the five Mexican-American creators to follow.
Today, Graf’s bilingual blog has over 500,000 monthly pageviews and a social media following of more than 133,000 people. Over the years, prestigious groups and publications have recognized the author for her work. Graf and her work have been featured in The New York Times. In 2021, Penguin Random House published her cookbook, Yo Cocino Latino, in Spanish. Her cookbook was also featured in the NBC morning show, TeleMundo, Siempre Mujer, and Reforma, among many others.
In addition to her food blog and cookbook, Graf is a food photography expert. She has been honored to speak at conferences such as WeAllGrow in 2017 and 2018. She also spoke at AltSummit in 2019, where she shared her knowledge with fellow content creators. In 2023, she launched her first online course, "Fotos&Comida," a food photography course for beginners.
Outside of her work, Graf enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband have three wonderful children and a beloved golden retriever who fill their home with love and energy. Her two oldest children are pursuing their dreams in college, and her youngest daughter is completing her high school education.
